A magnet will not attract the tungsten carbide coating itself. However, whether a magnet can attract the entire "tungsten carbide coated roller" depends on whether the roller substrate is magnetic. For example: • If the substrate is carbon steel → magnetic → a magnet can attract it.

Combining the characteristics of tungsten carbide and the working principle of metal detectors, we can draw some preliminary conclusions. Although tungsten carbide is a metal compound, due to its poor conductivity and non-magnetic properties, metal detectors have limited ability to detect tungsten carbide coatings.

The thickness of tungsten carbide coatings is usually between 50 microns (0.05 mm) and 500 microns (0.5 mm), depending on the application scenario, working environment and use requirements of the roller. The choice of coating thickness must balance the wear resistance, impact resistance and other working characteristics of the roller.

The effective operating temperature limit of tungsten carbide coatings is usually around 500°C (932°F). After exceeding this temperature, the surface of the tungsten carbide particles may begin to oxidize or decompose, resulting in a decrease in the hardness and wear resistance of the coating.
